The Center for Human Health Risk through the NOAA Office of Education and partners
at the Hollings Marine Laboratory offer various programs that bring undergraduates
to Charleston to work in laboratories for approximately 10 weeks each summer. Scientists
at the HML actively mentor
these summer undergraduates through a defined research project. At the end of the
summer, the students present their research findings in formal presentations to
the scientists and to their fellow students.
These summer research internships provide undergraduate students with an opportunity
to gain hands-on laboratory experience and to interact with current graduate students.
Some summer undergraduate students subsequently apply to graduate programs at the
NOAA Office of Education
, College of Charleston or at the Medical University
of South Carolina.
